Filming Blog: How I Filmed my Commercial

On Friday, the 30th I started filming my commercial. I filmed mainly in the backyard at my house. I had all my costumes laid out so I could easily change into them. I also had my friend who helped me film my commercial come already in her costume. For the first scene I made sure to have all the props ready and to position the camera right where I needed it. The scene was of us gluing the two pieces of wood together, we sat on the grass for this scene. The next scene was just of the two pieces of wood drying and the gorilla wood glue next to it. I made sure to show the whole gorilla glue bottle so the viewer would know exactly what it was. After the wood dried, we started on the next scene where we tried to pull apart the two pieces of wood because they were not supposed to be glued together. I put the camera at an angle so you can see us and the two pieces of wood, I also wanted to show that the pool behind us. I had problems with the sun being right in our faces because it created light problems and we were not able to see as well. I decided to move the scene a little to the left so that is looked better. I also had problems with the arrangement of my backyard. I wanted to make sure it looked as nice as possible so I moved things around so it would look better in the scene. The next scene I had to fall into the pool, I had one line in this scene which created problems. I was too far away from the mic so I had to re-do this scene multiple times because it would not be loud enough. The last scene was a close of the gorilla wood glue bottle. In this scene I filmed a zoom in shot of the sticker on the bottle then I zoomed out to show the whole bottle and the two pieces of wood still together. I chose to do a voiceover in this scene, so I made it long enough so I could say everything that I wrote. The whole process of filming took about 2 hours.
