Beginning to Film

Planning Blog 4: Karli Norkin

The scheduled day for filming was Monday. We began filming that day. The day and night before there were mix ups once again with the actors in our film. We needed two other actors. Rylie and I needed to find someone each. We could not find an actor to play Noah as I said in my last blog. We were thinking we could find a girl to play Noah and change the gender. It would not change the story, only the genders. We do not want to do that if possible but it may come to that. We have Charlotte and we have begun our filming process with her. I am playing Lily after a long debate between me and Rylie. Neither of us wanted to be in the film to a certain extent. Unfortunately we could not find enough actors to fill the places of the characters. We still needed someone to play Charlotte and we could not find enough people to do everything. We ended up going with Me as Lily, Charlotte played by my friend Sasha, and Noah (Natalie) played by Rylie. We decided we would film the love interest scenes later in the week in case we would be able to find a boy to be Noah again. We are comfortable with Rylie being Noah (Natalie). We just wanted to have backups as well. We began filming with only Lily and Charlotte on Monday. We  started with the park scene. We wanted to stage everything perfectly so we made sure to film in the right sequence. We started with Charlotte running up to Lily.

  We started off first with watching the short film,9. It was only about 10 minutes long and there was no dialogue during it. When I first watched the film, I thought that there would be some dialogue. Doing, or having would increase the quality of this short film greatly. Not only would it make it better, but easier to understand what the plot is. There were many times throughout this short film where I didn't know what was happening. I didn't know what was going on or the plot throughout the whole film. It was hard to follow without any dialogue.I  had to resort to watching the characters' body language in order to understand what was happening. Maybe the little noises the characters made for each emotion would have been better. But that isn't very easy when they're little rag dolls. I am Karli Norkin, I am in grade 11, and l ast year  I took part  in  as  level Media studies.  Thanks to a lot of hard work and devotion  I  passed and am  now in A level Media studies.  I took the year  to learn the vocabulary and key wording I needed to succeed in the class. I also learned the best ways to film and edit over all my projects.  I started with my commercial. This project was the beginning of my leaning towards filming. This opened me up to new angles and lighting to use.  After the commercial I knew how to create a film overall. The best ways to show the emotions of the  characters , or the best w ay to sell an object. After the commercial I made a music video that was longer and more complex than the commercial.  This complexified my knowledge of  filming and  writing plots. Planning Blog Schedule

Schedule Tuesday 21, 2021- We will begin our filming, by starting the first scene where they are in the kitchen watching the news as they hear that an asteroid is coming to earth. This will be the first scene we will film to get the extra actors and characters out of the way. The next scene we will film on this day is the scene where Lily runs over to her neighbors house to confess her feelings before they die. This will be the last scene we will film on this day. Tuesday 28, 2021- We will continue to film, we will take a break to enjoy the holidays then come back to finish the film. We will start by filming the third scene at the park where the two girls Lily, and Charlotte. We will film the compilation of the girls doing activities on this day as well, we will have to remain on schedule starting with the park then going to the car, bathroom, and backyard.
