Filming The Beginning

Planning Blog 5: Karli Norkin 

Monday we began filming. We started with the scene in the park. We met at Rylie’s house and we discussed the plan for filming that day. We decided the park scene was the best place to start. Then we would go to an empty parking lot to film the car scene. After the car scene we would go to the beauty store to shoot the scene where we buy the hair spray. This would work well because there is a big parking lot where the beauty store is. The parking lot also ended up being very empty so we could film the driving scene. After that scene we actually needed to buy the hair spray, and unfortunately there was none at the beauty store so we went next door to the party store and they luckily had hair spray. We then went to the closest beach which was about twenty minutes away. These were all a part of our plan. After the beach we would go back to Rylie’s house and do the hair spray scene. We would also do the paddle board scene on the water. This would all line up with the bucket list. We had to make sure our hair was only green during the paddle boarding so it would all line up with each other. The list was written in a way that it would work well to film in that order. Once we had our filming plan we were able to begin filming. We started at the park. It was very windy so we had to keep that in mind for the sound and the effects it had on our clothes when editing. We wanted to make it smooth when they run up to each other and how it is filmed. We also had to decide on the perfect place in the park to film. There were kids playing on the slides when we first arrived.   We started off first with watching the short film,9. It was only about 10 minutes long and there was no dialogue during it. When I first watched the film, I thought that there would be some dialogue. Doing, or having would increase the quality of this short film greatly. Not only would it make it better, but easier to understand what the plot is. There were many times throughout this short film where I didn't know what was happening. I didn't know what was going on or the plot throughout the whole film. It was hard to follow without any dialogue.I  had to resort to watching the characters' body language in order to understand what was happening. Maybe the little noises the characters made for each emotion would have been better. But that isn't very easy when they're little rag dolls. I am Karli Norkin, I am in grade 11, and l ast year  I took part  in  as  level Media studies.  Thanks to a lot of hard work and devotion  I  passed and am  now in A level Media studies.  I took the year  to learn the vocabulary and key wording I needed to succeed in the class. I also learned the best ways to film and edit over all my projects.  I started with my commercial. This project was the beginning of my leaning towards filming. This opened me up to new angles and lighting to use.  After the commercial I knew how to create a film overall. The best ways to show the emotions of the  characters , or the best w ay to sell an object. After the commercial I made a music video that was longer and more complex than the commercial.  This complexified my knowledge of  filming and  writing plots. Planning Blog Schedule

Schedule Tuesday 21, 2021- We will begin our filming, by starting the first scene where they are in the kitchen watching the news as they hear that an asteroid is coming to earth. This will be the first scene we will film to get the extra actors and characters out of the way. The next scene we will film on this day is the scene where Lily runs over to her neighbors house to confess her feelings before they die. This will be the last scene we will film on this day. Tuesday 28, 2021- We will continue to film, we will take a break to enjoy the holidays then come back to finish the film. We will start by filming the third scene at the park where the two girls Lily, and Charlotte. We will film the compilation of the girls doing activities on this day as well, we will have to remain on schedule starting with the park then going to the car, bathroom, and backyard.
