Filming Blog

Image
I have many ideas for filming my project, but I have not started it yet. I do have a plan however for filming my project. I am first going to start by cutting down the song to only 60 seconds long. I will then start recording the first scene. It will start on the coach with two girls looking bored watching TV. They will then turn off the TV and jump up from the sofa. I will do a full view of the two girls by setting up the camera to show the whole room. I will then cut to them running outside of the front door. I will do two different shots for this scene on will be from the inside going outside and then them running to the car from the outside. Then they will get into the car and start dancing around while pulling out of the driveway. I will film this from the inside of the car and using a close-up of each girl. Then there will be an outside video of the car pulling away. The scene will then cut to the girls riding away on bikes and riding around their neighborhood I will do a s...

Planning Storyboard for my Music Video

Image
Scene 1: Starts with two girls watching TV, in their living room and one girl is flipping through the channels. They have a bored expression on their faces; I will film this with a full view of the room and the two girls. Scene 2: The two girls jump up from their seats and begin to run to the front door. I will be filming close ups of each of the girls. Scene 3: The girls run outside into their car. They then turn up the music and start waving their hands around. I will film each girl one at a time. Scene 4: They will be driving around singing in their car. I will do a 5 second clip of the car driving away, and the girl waving her hands out the window. Scene 5: I will cut to this scene very quickly from the last scene and it will only be about 5 seconds long. The two girls will be riding bikes out of their garage. They will be wearing something else which will infer that it is a different day. Scene 6: This scene will be in their neighborhood; they will be riding ...

Planning for my Music Video

Image
Song Title: Girls Just want to have fun. Props: The props I am going to us for my music video are umbrellas, a car, camera, coach, record player, TV, dogs, dog toys, whisks, bowls, flowers, and bikes. Costumes: There are going to be a lot of costume changes in this music video. I am going to have three different costumes along with my friend. We are each going to wear one fancy dress, that will be colorful. We will wear converse with the dresses. The second costume will be a tank top with jeans and one of us will be wearing a headband and the other will have our hair in a ponytail. The third costume will be an apron with a shirt and pants underneath. The last costume will be a shirt with shorts or a skirt. I will add hair accessories to each of these costumes along with shoes. Schedule: 11/16/20, research conventions for pop music videos. 11/17/20, write the props, costumes, schedule, set, location, and backup plan. 11/20/20, create 12 box storyboard for the mus...

Research blog: Music Video Conventions

Image
The song I chose is very well known and everyone knows its music video. The song “Girls just want to have fun” is very upbeat along with the music video. The music video shows off the fun side of the song. In the music video there is a lot of joy and letting loose. Sindy Lauper is the singer of the song and she is also in the music video. In the music video she starts off coming home and her mom being mad at her. Then the phone rings and her dad gets mad at her. Then she talks on the phone with all her friends and they are all doing different activities while talking on the phone. After that they all meet up and run all over town singing and having fun. All throughout the video it goes back to all the girls in rows singing the song. At the end of the video a bunch of people go back to her house with her and they dance around. But they show the parents mad. Through the whole video she is having fun and not caring what everyone else thinks. She is just having fun with her friends. ...

Introduction to the Music Video Project

Image
I am not working with anyone for this project. I chose to work by myself for many reasons. One reason was I do not know when I would be able to film if I filmed with other people. Another reason I chose to work by myself was so I would not have to worry about other people doing their part of the work. If I worked with other people, I would have had to figure out dividing the work and I thought it would be easier if I just did it all myself. The last reason I chose to work by myself was, I am going to be away during the break, and I did not want to affect my group if I couldn't film when they wanted to. The song I am using for my music video is "Girls just want to have fun". I chose this song because I have always really liked it. I also think it would be fun to film. When I started thinking about this project I went through songs in my mind and this one was my favorite. I started to think of how I would film with this song, and I thought of a lot of ideas. I decided I wou...

Critical Reflection Blog

Image
Creative Critical Reflection 1.      How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues?      My commercial uses conventions because it has someone come in to help the person struggling. It also uses conventions by having someone gluing together something. My commercial challenges conventions by not using regular glue and instead I used gorilla wood glue from the beginning. I also used a superhero instead of a gorilla. The social groups my commercial represents is anyone, but mainly men. Men usually build things and that is what wood glue is for. It is also for everyone because, other people can use wood glue and I was in the commercial along with one other girl so, that shows anyone can use it. It represents issues by showing that girls can do things mainly men do.     2.      How does your product engage with audiences AND how would it be distributed as a r...

My Commercial

Image
This project was fun and taught me a lot. I learned new things about editing and filming. This project was a lot of work and required a lot of planning, but I enjoyed making it. I started by researching the different commercials for wood glue. Once I found out what the traditional commercial is, I started planning my own commercial. I decided to use a superhero instead of the traditional gorilla that they use in their commercials. I then planned out all the costumes and times I would film and edit. One thing I would have done differently with planning was given myself more time to edit and film my commercial. Maybe I would have filmed earlier so I could have started editing sooner so I had more time to do it all. Once I finished planning, I started my storyboard. I wrote out what I would be doing and saying in the commercial then I drew each scene. I enjoyed drawing and figuring out each scene. It was a new thing for me because I have not ever planned or filme...

Editing Blog

Image
I started editing after I finished filming all my scenes. I first exported all my videos onto my computer. Then, I went through all my videos and chose the best takes to put into the commercial. After I chose all the videos, I put them all together. Once they were all one video, I went over it to make sure it all went together nicely. Once I looked over it, I started to think about how I wanted to edit it. I decided to first make sure I would be able to cut it down enough. I then wanted to record my voiceover so I could edit that with the video. Once I finished my voiceover, I then edited the voiceover into the video. After the voiceover was in the video, I added the music over the whole commercial. Then I decided to play the whole video with the music and voiceover in it. Once I watched the whole thing, I decided to add some transitions throughout the video. I added smooth transitions, so it...

Filming Blog: How I Filmed my Commercial

Image
On Friday, the 30th I started filming my commercial. I filmed mainly in the backyard at my house. I had all my costumes laid out so I could easily change into them. I also had my friend who helped me film my commercial come already in her costume. For the first scene I made sure to have all the props ready and to position the camera right where I needed it. The scene was of us gluing the two pieces of wood together, we sat on the grass for this scene. The next scene was just of the two pieces of wood drying and the gorilla wood glue next to it. I made sure to show the whole gorilla glue bottle so the viewer would know exactly what it was. After the wood dried, we started on the next scene where we tried to pull apart the two pieces of wood because they were not supposed to be glued together. I put the camera at an angle so you can see us and the two pieces of wood, I also wanted to show that the pool behind us. I had problems with the sun being right in our fa...
