Critical Reflection Questions

Image
Creative Critical Reflection 1.       1.  How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues? My music video uses conventions because it is upbeat and fun. My music video shows two girls dancing around and doing fun activities. This is just like the regular music video, in the way that the girls are enjoying themselves. However, it does challenge conventions because, it does not have a serious side to it, and some music videos like to show that side of the song. I wanted to keep it upbeat to go with the song. There are also no boys in this music video, with pop music there tends to be boys or girls as love interests in the video. My music video represents social groups and issues. The main point to the song is that girls want to have fun, this is a social issue because girls do not always get to have fun because they are looked at to take care of everyone and be responsible. My music video challenges those ...

My Music Video

Image
This project taught me a lot and it was fun. I learned how to create a story by following what the music was telling me. I enjoyed creating the scenes to go with the story of the song. When I started the process of creating the scenes for the video, I decided to go with a more upbeat feeling. I thought this would go well with the song. Writing all the scenes was a great way to increase my knowledge of creating a film. I enjoyed seeing my script come to life when we filmed. I liked creating the different viewpoints and concepts of the video. Deciding what activities, the girls should do was difficult, because I had a lot of different ideas but not enough time for them all. I decided on the activities in the video because I thought those were the most upbeat and fun. Filming the girls doing the activities is difficult because I wanted it to portray the fun side of life as much as possible. Adding different fun camera angles made that more possible. It brought a whimsical factor to the vi...

Filming Blog #2

I started off filming, with the first scene. This scene was the one on the coach with the girls jumping up off from the coaches, after not finding anything on the TV. I made this a full view of the room, the TV, and the two girls. I did this because I wanted to show how bored the girls were and what they were doing. I then showed them running out of the room. I showed all these things in one recording. I did this so it would be as smooth as possible. The next scene was of the girls running outside from the front door. This was a fast clip just to show how the girls got outside. Then the girls run into the car, one girl is holding car keys and they both look happy. This clip did not have a moving camera I just kept the camera steady. The next scene cuts city girls driving out of the driveway. This scene moves the camera to the right a little bit as the car drives away. Then the video cuts to the girls on bikes riding out of garage. This scene does a sweeping view of the girls ridi...

Editing blog

I started by editing down the song to only 1 minute long. Then I exported all the videos onto my computer. I put them  onto my video editing app. Then I started to cut down the videos. I started with the first scene where we are on the coach. I cut parts of the video out, so it was only a few seconds long. Then I added a smooth transition to the front door scene. I showed the girls leaving from the inside then them running outside into the car. After that I cut the video to them pulling out of driveway then to them in the car, I made sure all the transitions were smooth and that they went along with the music well. The next part of the video was of the girls riding their bikes out of their garage and into the street. This transition from the car to the bikes was fast so it seems like no time has passed. When the girls ride around the neighborhood, I made sure the video was short, so it did not take up too much time sense the next scenes are a bit long. I cut that video down a lot a...

Filming Blog

I have many ideas for filming my project, but I have not started it yet. I do have a plan however for filming my project. I am first going to start by cutting down the song to only 60 seconds long. I will then start recording the first scene. It will start on the coach with two girls looking bored watching TV. They will then turn off the TV and jump up from the sofa. I will do a full view of the two girls by setting up the camera to show the whole room. I will then cut to them running outside of the front door. I will do two different shots for this scene on will be from the inside going outside and then them running to the car from the outside. Then they will get into the car and start dancing around while pulling out of the driveway. I will film this from the inside of the car and using a close-up of each girl. Then there will be an outside video of the car pulling away. The scene will then cut to the girls riding away on bikes and riding around their neighborhood I will do a s...

Planning Storyboard for my Music Video

Image
Scene 1: Starts with two girls watching TV, in their living room and one girl is flipping through the channels. They have a bored expression on their faces; I will film this with a full view of the room and the two girls. Scene 2: The two girls jump up from their seats and begin to run to the front door. I will be filming close ups of each of the girls. Scene 3: The girls run outside into their car. They then turn up the music and start waving their hands around. I will film each girl one at a time. Scene 4: They will be driving around singing in their car. I will do a 5 second clip of the car driving away, and the girl waving her hands out the window. Scene 5: I will cut to this scene very quickly from the last scene and it will only be about 5 seconds long. The two girls will be riding bikes out of their garage. They will be wearing something else which will infer that it is a different day. Scene 6: This scene will be in their neighborhood; they will be riding ...

Planning for my Music Video

Image
Song Title: Girls Just want to have fun. Props: The props I am going to us for my music video are umbrellas, a car, camera, coach, record player, TV, dogs, dog toys, whisks, bowls, flowers, and bikes. Costumes: There are going to be a lot of costume changes in this music video. I am going to have three different costumes along with my friend. We are each going to wear one fancy dress, that will be colorful. We will wear converse with the dresses. The second costume will be a tank top with jeans and one of us will be wearing a headband and the other will have our hair in a ponytail. The third costume will be an apron with a shirt and pants underneath. The last costume will be a shirt with shorts or a skirt. I will add hair accessories to each of these costumes along with shoes. Schedule: 11/16/20, research conventions for pop music videos. 11/17/20, write the props, costumes, schedule, set, location, and backup plan. 11/20/20, create 12 box storyboard for the mus...
